Victoria
A Collaborative Work of Art
Original Illustration:The Victoria mosaic is the result of a creative partnership between artist Samy Halim and Chifoumi Studio, combining innovation with exceptional craftsmanship. This remarkable piece debuted at the Maison & Objet fair in Paris in September 2024.
Measuring 5 x 8 feet (1.5 x 2.5 meters), the creation of this mosaic required 130 hours of meticulous work in the studio. Each tile was carefully hand-cut with precision using specialized pliers. With Victoria, we aimed to redefine traditional mosaics by giving them a more illustrative and contemporary edge, showcased through a bold, graphic fresco. The face was sculpted in bas-relief, adding texture and depth, which beautifully contrasts with the geometric design of the background.
With Victoria, we’ve reimagined figurative mosaics through a modern lens, inspired by the vibrant energy of street art.
Mounted on a wooden frame, this mosaic is available as a wall art panel. For more information or to inquire about a custom mosaic project, feel free to reach out to us.

Colorful Facades: Street Art as the Heart of the Project
Our goal was to design a large-scale mosaic tailored for outdoor facades. The vision was to create an artwork that could endure temperature changes, humidity, and other environmental challenges while maintaining its vibrant colors and precise details over time.
To meet these demands, we chose glazed ceramic stoneware tiles, known for their durability and strength. Each 4 x 4 inch (10 x 10 cm) tile was carefully selected for its quality and ability to deliver striking, vivid colors that immediately draw attention.
As a first step, we created this scaled-down prototype measuring 5 x 8 feet (1.5 x 2.5 meters). This sample allowed us to experiment with and refine our artistic and technical choices. This intermediate piece highlights the potential of the mosaic to expand onto larger surfaces, transforming entire facades into breathtaking architectural artworks.
